The colors of winter draw me in. I love the deep, rich fruit colors of plum and cranberry that come out around the shorebanks of New England rivers at this time of year. Add to this the wheat and ochre yellows to bring in warm, joyful golden hues. And on top of it all, deep cobalt blue seems to shine clearer and brighter in winter's skies, and is reflected in the river. All of this together brings about a feeling of transcendence - the notion that there is more, far beyond what we see with our natural eyes.
