"I met Deidre at her studio as part of an Open Studios event several years ago. I was quite taken with the colors and lines in her works, which are a lovely reminder of trips to the Cape and Islands. Her work has a strong, positive spirit that I enjoy every day, and that I love to share with guests in my home."

"I hear the waves... I feel the sandy beach under my feet, the sun and soft breeze on my face, and the teasing tide welcomes me back to the one place my soul can rest, and I can breathe."

"As we look at 'Serendipity,' it recalls very happy memories... the sense of peace, optimism, the celebration of nature, and closeness to God we'd feel with each sunrise or sunset we'd see by the water (while living by Harvard University)... We visited Deidre's studio shortly after she finished this painting, and there it was: a way to take the memories of our Cambridge experience home with us. It was 'serendipity'."

PROFESSIONAL REVIEWS, PRESS & AWARDS
"There's an engaging push/pull between representation and abstraction in Deidre Tao’s paintings. The movement in her compositions -- those repeating forms and patterns -- keeps my eyes circling in an almost meditative way. With intense, saturated colors that heighten the emotional 'POW' in her work, I see influences of Gauguin, Matisse, and O’Keeffe, as well as fauvism and color field painting."

"Tao’s subject of choice, but more importantly, a subject she has mastered, is the raw, unadulterated beauty that Cape Cod offers. Her use of color compliments and magnifies the virgin vistas... Her treatment of the sky and how it informs the color of the water and the land emphasizes her passion for the scene with a richly energized palette. Blues and purples of the beach and ocean melt into crimson and apricot of the sun-streaked sky, making for a visual feast that fills the eyes and feeds the soul."

"Deidre Tao's paintings are an experiment in color and form, and her range in approach to depicting the layers of the landscape reveals a skillful understanding of her subject. Her use of line and rendering of light, reminiscent of American Barbizon paintings, clearly translate different moments of the day and year, resulting in works that convey a unique sense of place.
From windswept dunes and tranquil ponds, to dawn over a marsh and sunset over the land -- each of Deidre's renderings beautifully capture the spirit of her subject."

"Deidre Tao's paintings transport me to a very positive, dreamlike place. Her skill with expressive color and decisive brushwork makes me feel as though I'm drawn into magical realms that are both here on earth and also part of the landscape of my subconscious."
