ABOUT THE ARTIST
Deidre Tao has been painting professionally for more than three decades. Her paintings are purchased by private collectors locally, nationally, and internationally. Her artwork is available through art galleries, her studio, and her online presence. In addition to her work as a full time painter, Deidre currently serves as President of the Board of Directors of the Artists' Group of Charlestown, overseeing the non-profit organization's art programs aimed at showcasing visual arts and culture in the Boston community. She has been actively involved with Cambridge Arts Council initiatives for the past two decades. In addition, Deidre is active in the Cape Cod community, exhibiting her paintings at Main Street Gallery of Falmouth, Cape Cod Museum of Art in West Dennis, and Highfield Hall and Gardens of Falmouth. Deidre earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the College of Visual and Performing Arts at University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth in 1993. She subsequently set up her private studio space in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she has been a working studio artist since 1994. She established her business name and entity, Deidre Tao Fine Art in 2015. In the fall of 2019, she expanded to a second larger studio and cooperative artist members' gallery building in Charlestown, a neighborhood of Boston. She lives in Cambridge with her husband Danny Tao and their two children, where she loves city life, being close to the Charles River, and being within walking distance of museums, cafés, and Harvard Square. RECOGNITION Deidre was recently awarded a Merit Prize on the theme of "Water" through Teravarna's International Fine Art Competition (2023). Her alma mater, the University of Massachusetts, invited her to be part of an Alumni Art Career Panel and interviewed her for their Alumni Newsletter (2022). Cape Cod Art Magazine named her Editor's Pick (2021) and interviewed her for their annual summer issue. She was voted "People's Choice Winner" in the Storefront Art Contest held by the City of Cambridge’s Economic Development office in partnership with the Cambridge Arts Council (2019). Feedspot recognized her painting blog as Top 75 Painting Blogs on the World Wide Web (2017). Deidre was a recipient of a Massachusetts Cultural Council grant to create and present art with a group of artists for the Community Supported Art Project through the Cambridge Arts Council (2016).
