I love wintertime on the coast. The way the ice freezes in shallow areas along marshes is so captivating. I see pieces of snow and ice fused together, creating semi-translucent and semi-opaque colors. I see calligraphic lines created where edges meet. White ice, juxtaposed next to clear, dark ice, creates contrast. Winter sunrises and sunsets bring hot color to an otherwise cool, monochromatic picture, creating a sense of drama.
