The clay cliffs of Aquinnah on Martha's Vineyard have captured my imagination. This place is so different from other coastal areas of New England, you almost can’t believe you’re in Massachusetts when you walk on Moshup Beach. The layers of reds, pinks, ochres, whites, peaches, blacks, and gray colors are all there in the clay.
Prehistoric glaciers shaped these cliffs, which erode with continual exposure to the elements. But like the dunes of Provincetown, even with undeniable changes affecting the natural coastline, there is inherent beauty and mystery here. We can appreciate this in the fleeting time we have with them.
