All the oyster shells I paint are locally harvested from Massachusetts. My husband and I love to eat oysters fresh and cold, whether from Wellfleet on the Cape or from local restaurants and bars in our city neighborhood. I keep the shells and choose the most interesting ones to paint 'from life' as a still life series.
