On my most recent artist's retreat, I ventured to the Wellfleet and Provincetown area of Cape Cod. I woke up very early to catch the sunrise at 5:15 am. As I drove to Head of the Meadow Beach, I saw a fox, a deer, and a young coyote near or on the beach. It is amazing how much wildlife is protected along the Cape Cod National Seashore, which is managed by the National Park Service.
The sun rose far off on the horizon and lit up the sky, surf, and sand in really interesting ways. I sought to capture these interesting color reflections on the wet sand.
This painting won a 2024 Talent Prize in Teravarna Gallery L.A.'s International Competition in the category of "Water."
