REMEMBRANCE

After noticing a photo of my work in an article in The Boston Globe, these clients from Atlanta contacted me and commissioned me to create this painting for their home. They wished to have a work of art to recall fond memories of visiting beaches in New England during their time living and working in Boston years prior.
We worked together on the imagery and color palette to create this commissioned piece. Our whole project was done over email because of our geographical distance.

RESILIENCE 30x40" giclée print of original painting, framed An Open Studios event brought a new couple to my studio. Two years later, when they redesigned their home office, they custom-ordered a giclée of this dunescape, measured to fit the spotlit wall. This piece reminds them of the beaches and dunes of Truro, where they love to go every summer on Cape Cod. When the client came to pick up the finished print, he breathed a happy sigh and simply said, "That's vacation." He felt almost transported there by the painting. What a high compliment! |

CLIMBING TO CRESCENDO

A client commissioned me to create this painting for the vaulted wall of her master suite. She and her husband enjoy views of the sunset from their penthouse balcony in the city. They wanted an artist's depiction of a bold and colorful sunset to bring the reflection of dramatic beauty indoors.
Sharing mutual favorite Italian Renaissance painting references, as well as photographs of great sunsets, were a fun and edifying part of this project for both the client and myself.

EVENTIDE
30x40" original painting
A client commissioned me to create this painting for her big brother's 50th birthay! I worked directly with him on the imagery of this coastal river near the beach on Cape Cod, a place that is very special and memorable to them and their extended family. He shared photos with me that I translated into sketches, and finally, the painting.
I happen to love the way they styled the painting in their living room, accentuating the warm coral colors in the accessories. For this client, the colors were particularly important so we worked together on nailing down these summer hues.

THE LORD OUR BANNER

Clients commissioned me to create this painting for their home in Florida that they affectionately call their 'oasis.' They described the desire for coastal imagery of New England, the area where they raised their kids and have a great fondness for. But they also wanted their painting to be a symbolic piece that would be an encouragement, something big and bright that they and their many guests would see from the moment they walked in the front door. This painting was done from a few photos plus my imagination. We went from sketches to the final piece over text.
Since this couple are people of faith, we found inspiration from Song of Songs, a book in the Old Testament that describes a couple's relationship to each other and to God. From that, we titled the piece referencing the scripture that says, "His banner over me is love." Song of Songs 2:4
