CBS/ Channel 4 WBZ-TV Segment

I am excited to share this 7-minute segment with you, and a bit of the backstory behind it!

Last fall, I was approached by CBS's Boston network, WBZ-TV, to help with a short promo piece for their TV broadcasting and social media purposes. They produced 30-second and 60-second pieces created from the content they filmed of me painting outdoors.

The producer of that piece then recommended me to his colleague, the producer of New England Living. He thought my work would be of interest as a long-form segment on their televised show featuring New England special interest stories.

After a short phone conversation with him, a few texts for scheduling (according to season and weather of course!), and a 2-hour video shoot complete with a drone camera getting great aerial shots... this is the result, edited into a 7-minute segment.

I was interviewed by Rachel Holt, their host. She had a warm and engaging personality on and off camera which made the interview part really easy and fun. Through Open Studios and other in-person events over the past many years, I have practiced how to answer questions about my inspiration and my process. This came in handy when Rachel asked me many thoughtful questions for about 45 minutes. It took a while because we had to pause for the occasional beach-goers who kept walking by!

I also thought the producer and editors did a great job, keeping the best parts that tell a story of how art is made from beginning to end. I especially loved the aerial shots they got of the gorgeous lines of the North Shore near where we stood.

One thing I shared that didn't 'make the cut' was how much my parents and grandparents encouraged me as a young artist when I was getting started, and my gratitude for them and the community around me that has helped me on my journey. There is no way I can do what I do alone.
