ABOUT THE ARTIST
An award-winning artist, Deidre Tao has been painting professionally for more than three decades. Her paintings are purchased by local and international private collectors. Her artwork has also been purchased by major healthcare facilties such as Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital. In addition to her work as a full time studio artist, Deidre currently serves her community as President of the Board of Directors of the nonprofit Artists' Group of Charlestown, overseeing the organization's art program. She has been actively involved with Cambridge Arts Council initiatives for the past two decades. In addition, Deidre is active in the Cape Cod community, exhibiting her paintings at Main Street Gallery of Falmouth, Cape Cod Museum of Art in West Dennis, and Highfield Hall and Gardens of Falmouth. Deidre earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the College of Visual and Performing Arts at University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth in 1993. She subsequently set up her private studio space in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she has been a working studio artist since 1994. She established her business name and entity of Deidre Tao Fine Art in 2015. In 2019, she expanded to a second larger studio and art gallery building in Charlestown, a neighborhood of Boston. She lives in the city of Cambridge with her husband and their two children where she loves being within walking distance of art museums, cafés, and the Charles River. RECOGNITION Deidre has been awarded a Merit Prize and a Talent Prize on the theme of "Water" through Teravarna's International Fine Art Competition (2023, 2024). Her alma mater, the University of Massachusetts, invited her to speak on an Alumni Panel on Careers in the Arts and interviewed her for the Alumni News (2022). Cape Cod Art Magazine named her an Editor's Pick (2021) and interviewed her for their annual periodical in a 2 page feature. She was voted "People's Choice Winner" in the Storefront Art Contest held by the City of Cambridge’s Economic Development office in partnership with the Cambridge Arts Council (2019). Feedspot has twice recognized her painting blog as Top 75 Painting Blogs on the World Wide Web (2017, 2025). Deidre was a recipient of a Massachusetts Cultural Council grant to create and present art with a group of artists for the Community Supported Art Project through the Cambridge Arts Council (2016).
